Rally classes with Wendy, Rebecca or Jencie at HDTC require handlers and dogs to have basic skills in Obedience and/or to have participated in the Pet Dog classes. HDTC conducts a 4-week Introduction to Rally course 4-5 times per year. From there, participants join regular Rally classes. Rally Obedience (known as Rally) builds on the positive relationship an owner and their dog already have. While the discipline displays the connection between handler and dog, it also promotes fun and enjoyment.

Rally is a relaxed discipline designed to introduce handlers to the world of dog sports and to have fun with their dog. It is suitable for both novices and the accomplished handler who already competes in a different discipline.

A Rally course has numbered stations that dogs and handlers navigate, performing the specified exercise at each sign. Rally participants will be taught how to demonstrate each station with their dog. The novice level requires the dog to be on-lead, higher levels will be off-lead. Handlers are permitted to use hand and verbal cues and encouraged to praise/pat their dog after completing a station, throughout the course.

There are several Club Test Days conducted throughout the year which will gauge the progress of handlers and their dogs. The Club also conducts official Australian National Kennel Club trials each year for those who wish to compete in this discipline. Links to ANKC Rally rules and signs are found under the Obedience section HERE.

PLEASE NOTE: Rally class numbers are limited so if spaces are filled, a waiting list is available.
